If you've tailored a version of your resume for a specific job using My Resumes duplicate feature, this is a quick way to see exactly how the two diverged — which one has more experience detail, more skills listed, or a higher completeness score.
What to actually look for
A higher completeness score on one version doesn't automatically make it the better one to send — it might just have more sections filled in, not sharper content. Use the side-by-side counts as a starting point for asking why they differ: did version B add real detail to a job, or just pad out the skills list? The numbers point you toward where to look; they don't replace actually reading both versions.
A worked example
Say you duplicated a resume before tailoring the copy for a specific application, and Compare now shows the tailored version has 40 fewer words and a slightly lower completeness score. That's worth investigating rather than assuming it's a regression — tailoring often means cutting a less-relevant job's bullet points down or removing a skills category unrelated to the target role, which can lower a raw count while actually making the resume a better fit for that one job.

Only your own saved resumes — you pick two from a list of resumes tied to your session or account. There's no way to compare against a resume you don't own.
What exactly counts toward the "completeness score" here?
The same score the resume editor itself calculates and shows as the "Resume Strength" meter — it's not a separate scoring system built just for this comparison tool.
How do I get two versions of the same resume to compare?
Use the duplicate feature from "My Resumes" to make a copy, edit the copy — for example, tailoring it toward a specific job — and then compare the original against the copy here.
Does comparing two resumes change either of them?
No — this tool only reads both resumes and displays their statistics side by side. Nothing is edited or merged.
Should the shorter resume always be treated as the "worse" one?
